Houston bay-area support for writers
WHO WE ARE
Bay Area Writers League is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving writers in the Clear Lake/Galveston Bay area in southeast Houston, Texas near the Johnson Space Center.
We are dedicated to helping writers of all genres and abilities to enhance their skills, network with others, and succeed in following their dreams as authors. We have members who write poetry, memoirs, historical fiction, personal essays, literary fiction, sci-fi/fantasy, non-fiction, romance…the list goes on. All are welcome.
Our goal is to join with and aid writers seeking enhancement of their skill set, either with the craft itself, or with the business of writing, or both.
We welcome all writers from all walks and styles. All we ask is that you bring your desire to write, a kind heart, and a willingness to have a good time learning and sharing with others as careers blossom and grow. We enjoy spending time with other writers who like to work together to make good things happen.

WHEN AND WHERE WE MEET
Monthly Write-Ins
Third Saturdays at Burger House at 395 W. Main St. League City, TX 77573 from 3:00-5: 00 pm. Join other local writers and do some writing. Bring a laptop or pen and paper. We will provide a writing prompt if you want something new to work on. There is an opportunity to share a portion of your writing at the end. Everyone is welcome. Sign up at Meetup. Your RSVP helps us reserve enough seats for everyone.
Critique Group
First & third Thursdays, 7:30-9: 30 pm at Barnes & Noble, 1029 Bay Area Blvd, Webster, TX 77598. Everyone is welcome. We hope you will become a BAWL member if you want to come regularly.
Monthly Member Meetings
Fourth Thursdays at 7:00 pm at the Clear Lake Park meeting room, 5001 NASA Rd 1 in Seabrook, TX (brown building on waterfront side – turn right at street light if coming from I-45). Guest speakers present various educational topics on writing, including editing, publishing, copyrighting, and marketing. A brief general meeting begins at 7:00 followed by the featured speaker. Guests may attend one free meeting before becoming a member for $30 per year.
